Fernhill Wetlands Visitor Experience Plan
Graphic design | Fernhill Wetlands + Clean Water Services | Forest Grove, OR
In partnership with Mason Bee Interpretive Planning, I designed the Fernhill Wetlands Visitor Experience Plan for Clean Water Services in Forest Grove, Oregon. Fernhill is part of more than 700 acres of wetlands that use natural treatment systems to restore water quality while providing habitat for birds and other wildlife. The site offers recreation and educational opportunities for the surrounding community.
My role was to translate a collaborative planning process—grounded in surveys and community partner input—into a clear, visually engaging document. I developed layouts to communicate thematic goals, crafted illustrative elements that highlight the wetlands’ biodiversity and center the visitor experience, and created visitor experience maps for key audiences. A Theory of Action and a Theory of Change provide clarity to prioritize projects, guide visitor experiences, and connect with a broader community about the wetlands’ important role in water management and sustaining healthy ecosystems.
